Light in the darkness

St Giles is an Evangelical Anglican Church, in Codicote, Hertfordshire, England, part of the Diocese of St Albans. We are open to the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit. Together we are  "Building a church that GLOW's"

The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. Matthew 4:16.

Shine as a light in the world

It was an eventful Worship 4U on Sunday the 6th May which saw Megan and Sam Baptised infront of about 90 people. We had a super time of worship and fellowship and our church GLOWed.

Worship this week Sunday the 20th May is at the more usual times of 9am for a said communion and then 10.30 for informal worship in the Parish Rooms with a program for children of all ages to enjoy.

Unity in the Body of Christ

Home groups this week Thursday 17th May, continue to look at Paul's letter to the Ephesians. This follows on from this years Spring Harvest theme of the Church. Join us in exploring what God wants His church to be like. We welcome this week Wayne and Luke as new members.

Ephesians is an exciting, encouraging, letter, Why not come and work through it together with friends in a home group? Contact Laurence to join.

Spring Harvest 2012, how about joining us in 2013?

Encounter God, Change the world

A group of us had a wonderful week at Spring Harvest at Skegness. "Skegness is bracing" and the weather was rather but it did not get in the way of greatChurch building expolding colour times of worship in the 'Big Top' and in our differing age groups nor the study of 'Church Actually' which was the theme for 2012.

I will be adding some pictures and quotes of how Spring Harvest has challenged our Ideas of what church is and how we do church in our village of Codicote. To encourage you if you're are thinking about coming with us next year I will be posting some quotes and pictures here. I think it is true to say that many of us encountered God, were changed by that encounter and want to go out and Change the World.

National Parenting Initiative in Codicote

St Giles launches parenting course and signs up as a partner in the National Parenting Initiative. This is an exciting new project supported across the UK by many denominations and the govenment.

One of the ways of involving our church in the community is to help address some of the problems that families face. Find out more at The NPI here.

At St Giles we are seeking to build a church which is;

Growing in faith

Loving and caring for one another

Outwardly looking

Worshipping out of an intimate relationship with Jesus

We believe we have something for everyone and we would love you to join us!
